Like most other storage businesses, we did not start life as a Cirencester-based storage business. We diversified into storage in response to customer demand.
The Butts Farm (hence the name "Butts Farm Storage") is now, and always has been, a farm, but in response to customer demand we have diversified into a number of activities – the Visitors' Centre, the Farm Shop, and of course into Storage. I (Judy) opened the Butts Farm in 1991 and for me farming is in the blood. My father farmed in Warwickshire, and during the 1950s he had the best herd of Jersey cows in the country, while my mother bred Welsh Mountain ponies. The Butts Farm is a working rare breeds farm with all sorts of animals, so living on the farm is essential. We are out in all weathers and daily face numerous diverse situations (I was once severely gored by a Highland cow!). We enjoy challenges, love our animals, and like to have satisfied customers – whether they are children on pony rides, the hairy bikers filming our pigs or business customers on corporate hospitality events. As a result, people come back for more.
The Farm Shop started in 1993, and most of the meat sold in the shop is supplied from the farm. Our shop is popular, with customers from all over Gloucestershire and Wiltshire – Cirencester, Swindon, Stroud, Gloucester Cheltenham and beyond.
